A Day at the Beach

July 31, 2008

The guys packing in the stuff!

Digging for clams! But we found something else, and let me tell you the sand flea scared me to death!

FAVORITE PICTURES

Smiles!!

Time to go, Ian still playing!

Sequia National Park

After flying to California and driving to Beth's house a group of us headed to Sequia National Park!
By Hospital Rock we found our way down to the river, where we posed for pictures and...

of course took some!

Next stop was Moro Rock- quite a walk up. I wasn't sure the rock stairs were ever going to end. Ian and I pose for a quick picture at the top - what a view!

Aunt Louise and I walking back down.

One of the best parts of the park was the random giant trees off the side of the road, some up some down.

The biggest tree in the world! General Sherman!

How to get to Californina

First Stop

Lets just start with the fact that my family reunion didn't start in California, first I flew from Arizona to Colorado.

David called and asked me if I could fly to Colorado to fly to California with Katy and the boys because he was asked to open a new store in Colorado and wouldn't be able to make it. So... of course I went.
1. I love Katy and Jacob
2. I wanted to meet Evan
3. I love to fly
4. I love to travel

I got the perfect opportunity to see Beautiful Colorado even if for just a for a short time. We went on a drive into the Mountains to see the Platte River.

Jacob loves anything his dad loves, especially if it has to do with cars!

After a few fun days we were all set, loaded down and headed out to the airport. Just the place for a transportation oriented two-year old! Even Evan seemed to get a kick out of Jacob.

Carl and Annie Reunion in Brighton

July 18-20, 2008

Everyone that could make it. Glen and Pat family is in dark blue. I had to sprint to be in the picture, after setting up the camera.

MAGIC... there is always a little magic when Grandpa is around.

Makenzie is asking Grandpa where his magic comes from. His reply? Going to primary as a child and doing everything that his teacher told him to do.

Chance to Chat!

Uncle Jimmy, Uncle Steve and Grandpa take the opportunity to talk!

Just being TOGETHER!

Lake Powell

May 31 - June 3
Tim, Rachel and I drove up to Lake Powell, where we met Rosa! We stayed at Rosa's bunkhouse the first and last night. It was inside the park and overlooks Lone Rock. The first night I took a picture of the sunset from the bunk house, what a great place!
We had a few fun packed days in the water, sun and sand.

A short hike to an overlook of horseshoe bend just below the dam on the Colorado River, a beautiful place, though a bit toasty. We also took in an overlook of the dam on our way back into town.

Sunday night we camped on the beach across from Lone Rock right on the lake. We had a little beach fire and a German father brought his daughter over to see it. It was fun to talk to him about the sights he is going to take in on his three month tour of the western United States, but it was even more fun for him to talk to Rosa in German. He declared her German perfect and said he mistook her for a native. After he left and we had enough coals we cooked our tinfoil dinners - it was great! The wind and the sand were not so great though, and when we woke up a fine layer of sand covered everything.

Monday we hit the lake in rented kayaks. It took a little to get into the rhythm of it, but once we did it was great fun, I think I might have to save up and get one one of these days.
We took a break from paddling to take a swim. We found a nice large rock to jump from. Here we go...
1) Me taking the plunge 2) Rachel halfway 3) Tim just touching 4) Splash!

More kayaking fun!

Rachel even found a few minutes to read on a kayaking trip.

Tuesday we got great deals from one of Rosa connections for a boat tour of Wahweap bay, Antelope canyon and the dam. I took a ton of pictures! So don't worry, it will feel like you were there. Rachel snapped a picture while I was looking for a picture to take, and Tim and Rosa pose for a picture - everyone smiles for the camera!
