Easter in Tucson

Tucson Easters!
April 11, 2009
Almost every year for as long as I can remember Easter has been at Grandma's house in Tucson. There is just something so beautiful about an egg hid in a cactus - which I'm sure sounds terrible, but for me it is tradition, rightness, and happiness.
This year there weren't as many people, but Grandma still out-did herself and of course was the perfect hostess! Everyone enjoyed the party! After dying eggs - and hiding them - the boys (Chris' and Daniel's kids) went hunting. Noell and James hid eggs above the garage and we were thinking they would have to be the ones to get them down too - but Daniel had another idea.

First he tried Calvin - who just wasn't up for it so Daniel gave him a toss for fun. Then Kai got a chance - and I will have to tell you that my faith was weak. Kai isn't as bold as Calvin in many ways and he wasn't feeling 100% anyway - but after a few words of encouragement Kai stretched up and snatched an egg! Everyone applauded - which Kai totally loved!

Chris used Cameron to grab the other egg.

Cameron didn't have quite the stretch, but he still did an amazing job!

Kai shows his "basket" that he got from Grandma, and then Grandpa helps him find one of the last eggs that he had been protecting from the older boys for Kai to find.

Calvin had a lot of prompts for the last egg, and this search he took very seriously! I think this is one of the green eggs that he dyed - he only dyed green eggs, no other colors.
As soon as the eggs were all inside, the ones that the boys didn't crack open and eat were quickly made into deviled eggs and Grandma's banquet was set!
